Dirk Verwoerd works more than twenty-five years as independent professional

photographer. Initially he worked as a publicity photographer for several publicity offices and some large retailers.

Rather rapidly he could combine his studio work with location photography

for KLM. For KLM he flew the complete world, and got inspired by the landscapes and people from several cultures. Its photography for KLM did

not remain unnoticed. Verwoerd went many years' on path for the travel organisation ‘Himalaya Trekking Wandelreizen’, which travel let him meet with the most distant recesses of the world.

At this moment Dirk Verwoerd works for a number of renowned architectural firms and house construction corporations and photograph interiors and exterieurs  Recently he made a photograph reportage concerning the modernisation of the royal Dutch currency in Utrecht and the realisation of a particular landhouse in Baarn; ‘buitenplaats Drakenburg’.

Dirk Verwoerd: `Architectural photography has become my specialism. It not only concerns composition, but also the light and therefore the moment of the day, is very important. Moreover I spend with much pleasure the necessary time on the retouch of the pictures.
